Mens Sports Jackets - Perfect for Corporate
Casual or an Evening Out
In the last few years the work environment has become far more relaxed and as such so has the
dress code. In offices where a suit and tie used to be the order of the day, mens sports jackets or blazers are
becoming far more accepted. The same guidelines apply to many social events where the host will decide if you must
wear a suit or if a mens sports jacket will be more suitable, it always pays to find out beforehand so that you
arrive properly attired for the event.
Mens sports jackets look very much like a suit jacket, but
are not sold with a matching pair of trousers allowing you to decide what you want to wear with it. You can wear a
sports coat to many events without fear of being under dressed such as church, meeting you prospective in-laws and
going to work as long as the dress code permits. However, if you are invited to an event that states the dress code
is semi-formal you will most likely be expected to show up in a suit and tie.
Going Casual
Depending on just how casual you plan to dress a sports coat can be considered quite casual if
you are talking about office casual, but the picture changes once you have left the office at the end of the day.
Casual after hours can range from a leather bomber jacket for those
cold wintry days to a smoking jacket for an evening at the club. Of course anything from a jean jacket to a track
jacket can be considered casual as long as you are comfortable wearing it and do not have to worry too much
about it getting a little dirty while you are out having fun.
Dressed to the Nines
No matter how relaxed and casual you like your life to be there are likely to be a few events
that are going to require that you wear formal clothes to attend. If you have to attend one of these functions you
might as well make sure you are dressed to impress as most people will only remember how you were dressed not what
you may or may not have done.
The most common and accepted mens formal jacket is the tuxedo and is appropriate for most formal
and black tie events that you will ever have to attend. The only other choice is the white tie affair, which
requires a white jacket, which very few people ever get to attend unless you are members of the government or the
Royal Family.
Ah the Tweed
Once a staple of every English country gentleman, mens tweed
jackets have come to symbolize the man with impeccable taste who knows how to look good even when he is
relaxing over a glass of sherry in the club. Even James Bond was seen wearing tweed on more than one occasion as
played by Sean Connery. If a tweed jacket works well for Mr. Bond, James Bond then imagine how incredibly manly you
will look in one the next time you go out for an evening on the town.
